Are you an academic or enrichment co-op?

We are an Educational Enrichment co-op.  We have some classes that are more academic in nature, with many that are more like electives.  We aim not to have work required outside of co-op.  While classes can often provide portfolio-worthy material, our goal is to supplement rather than fulfill specific requirements.

No, we don’t do that here. We are a secular co-op and welcome everyone regardless of faith or lack thereof. We only ask that everyone practices our shared values of respect and kindness with one another.

We can only offer the classes that parents volunteer to teach. We aim to offer at least two “academic enrichment” classes and at least one “elective” for each age group, although it is usually possible to schedule all elective classes if that is preferred. Again, it cannot be overstated that we need parents to volunteer to teach classes in order to offer these options to our families.

We are not an umbrella school. While some states require participation in an umbrella school for homeschooling, Louisiana does not require this. If a homeschool parent in our co-op would like support or guidance in choosing curriculum, or advice on record-keeping, testing, tutoring, or compliance with state laws, you can always reach out to us. We are always happy to help out with any of these things.

Our classes meet most Wednesdays from 10:00-1:00 at the Lutheran Church on Jones Creek Rd. in Baton Rouge. Check the calendar for holidays and field trip days.

$50 non-refundable registration fee per student per year $100 per student class and facility fees due each semester.

There are no hidden fees. This payment covers classroom supplies used during lessons.

Our seat limits are:

Pre-K & K: 8-10 students
Lower elem: 8-10 students
Upper elem: 8-10 students
Middle school: 10-12 students
High school: 12-14 students

If an age group doesn’t fill up, we may be able to open more classes/seats in another age group. This is a working estimate, and may change slightly.

Every parent must participate on campus by teaching at least one class, being a dedicated helper/substitute, or committing to a cleaning duty on campus. There are exceptions available in the event of a parent disability or a child who requires 1:1 support on campus from a parent.

Drop-off is only allowed for teens who drive themselves to campus.

This is normal and happens to everyone sometimes. We recommend utilizing accommodations such as headphones or earplugs if that is helpful, bringing along a comfort object, or just taking a break outside with adult supervision if needed. If something in a specific classroom environment is causing repetitive problems with sensory overload or overwhelm, reach out to us, and we will do what we can to figure out a way to help. We want everyone to enjoy co-op and have a good experience.

Please do not come to co-op if you or your child are sick. We ask that everyone be 24 hours free of fever, vomiting, rash, or other symptoms of contagious illness when attending co-op. If you know you will need to be out and have a class or other duty on campus that will need to be covered, we ask that you give us as much advance notice as possible. We will help find a sub for your class if your dedicated helper isn’t able to cover.

No worries! We don’t have attendance requirements. We only ask that you make sure to arrange coverage for any responsibilities you may have on campus. We appreciate a text to let us know your family will be out that day, but it isn’t a requirement.
